Happy Valentine’s Day!

Good morning and Happy Valentine’s Day!  In celebration of Feb. 14th, we thought we’d post a few sneak peeks from the themed session we shot this past weekend!  It’s something we’ve been working on for a while!  We’re incredibly eager to share the full blog, but we’re making ourselves wait until Thursday!  We’ve shared a couple of these images on Facebook already, but we’ve thrown in an extra one as a special treat for those who check out our blog, too!

We hope all of you have a wonderful day with your loved ones! Be sure to check back on Thursday for a full blog post featuring several images from this shoot! (P.S. You’ve totally figured out the theme, right?)

Avery Neevel – Shreveport Newborn Photographer

It’s Friday!!!  And, to celebrate Friday, we’re sharing images of a sweet one month old baby.  You may remember Heather & Corey, who booked us for their engagement pictures, wedding, and a few sessions of their first little girl, Auree.  They’re truly some of our favorite people!  And not just because they trusted us to capture a special time in their lives when we were new to photography.  They’re simply a fun couple to be around!  When we found out they were expecting their second child, we were so happy for them!  On this past Sunday, Heather, Auree, Avery, and Ashlie (Heather’s super helpful sister!) met up with us for a newborn session.  Nicole had several ideas for this session she was dying to try out.  With a cute little baby, the images turned out amazing!

Sweet kisses from her big sis!!!

I was randomly browsing facebook one day and came across a prop shop located in Florida.  They had just put up for sale the coolest little Coca-Cola crate wagon.  When I saw it, I just had to have it!  (We go through a lot of Diet Coke in our home!)  Turns out, it was a bit of fate that this prop was purchased just in time for Avery’s session!  Upon seeing the wagon, Heather and Ashlie told us that their mother happened to collect Coca-Cola items!

And we’ll end the blog with our favorite image from the session!

Heather, it was great to see you, Auree, and Ashlie again! Avery is adorable! We hope you love the images!  (And thanks again to Ashlie for helping us out behind the scenes!)

Sam Garner – Shreveport Children’s Photographer

Our good friend Sam is back on the blog! Not too long ago, his mother, Sarah, was having maternity pictures taken. In the blink of an eye, they needed newborn photos and then 3 months pictures!!! Now Sam is 6 months old! It really was great to see the little guy and hang out with his awesome parents again!

Nicole and I were especially excited about this session for several reasons. First, we rented a couple of fantastic lenses to test out. Second, these are some of our favorite clients! And, third, I LOVE AIRPLANES!!! For those of you who don’t know, it’s always been a secret dream of mine to be a fighter pilot! Now, part of that reason is because I happen to love cool leather jackets…but, mostly, I just want to fly!  And I don’t mean these new bad to the bone supersonic planes they have nowadays. I mean old school, super cool, manly, WWII era fighter planes!!! P-51 Mustangs, Corsairs, Hell Cats…they’re all planes I would die just to have my picture taken with much less ride in! So meeting up with Rich, Sarah, and Sam at the Eighth Air Force Museum for this session was tons of fun for me as there were lots of cool planes on display! I could have spent all day just checking out the planes, but we had a cute little guy and a cool new prop!

Seriously?!?!?!  An SR-71 blackbird!!!  How cool is that?!?!

Here he is in all his glory…little Sam!!!

And we’ll end the blog with one of our favorites from the day!

Guys, we had a blast!!! Sam is such a handsome little guy! We can’t wait for his next portrait session!

Blogstalkers, we have an adorable newborn session coming up soon so make sure to check back!

Walkabout – Houston, TX

G’day, mates!  This past weekend Nicole and I traveled to Houston, Texas, so Nicole could attend a CEU course for her 9-5 job.  Nicole was in class all day on both Saturday and Sunday, so I had LOTS of time to kill.  So what is a man to do in an unfamiliar town with lots of time?…Go on a walkabout. (Walkabout coming from Australia. It’s the term used to define a spiritual journey but also used by Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee as more of an exploratory journey.)   But since Houston is gigantic my walkabout included lots of driving.  With my trusty 24-70L lens, I set out for my adventure.

First, I headed into downtown on my way to a camera store to test out a few lenses that Nicole and I have been researching. I made sure to keep my eyes peeled for any interesting sites and I found several cool places. One in particular that I loved was a rustic water tower off in the distance. So I pulled over, took a few turns on random streets, and braved a seriously sketchy neighborhood all to set up for a nice downtown shot…

Part of the walkabout took me into downtown Houston where I found a beautiful park!  I got there just as the sun was going down and didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to take pictures. But I fired off a few shots and nailed a few keepers.

Before I started my walkabout, I knew there were two places that I had to visit…Reliant Stadium (home of the NFL’s Houston Texans) and Minute Maid park (home of the Houston Astros.)  Reliant Stadium is a stone’s throw away from where I saw my first baseball game ever (the Astrodome!).  Unfortunately, the Astrodome is in serious disrepair, but I’ll always know it as the beautiful stadium where my Dad took me to see the Chicago Cubs play for my first ever major league baseball game!  This next picture is Reliant stadium, which is amazing!

Another random sighting from the interstate…these cool red things.  Not sure what function they serve, but they look great against the blue sky!

I spent lots of time at Minute Maid park!  Baseball stadiums are just beautiful!  Even though pitchers and catchers don’t report for another 19 days, you can tell people are looking forward to the start of baseball season.  There were several families taking pictures, people just checking out the stadium, and a father and son playing catch outside of the stadium.  Coming from a diehard football fan, it’s hard to admit but baseball really is America’s favorite past time.

Well, I hope you enjoyed pictures from my walkabout! These walkabout posts will infrequently pop up everytime I get the chance to go exploring!
