Looking to the Stars – Louisiana Photographer

I met up with a good friend, Mark Eric, Saturday night to do a little bit of night photography. Mark and I met up at Kisatchie National Forest where we scouted out our nighttime shooting location and then grilled up a bit of dinner. As we finished dinner, we noticed the stars were out and ready to be photographed! So we trekked out into the wilderness to setup for some nighttime images. As we made the hike to our location we could see the night sky was absolutely perfect for nighttime pictures! There wasn’t a cloud in sky, it was a new moon, and the Milky Way was on full display!!!

We even saw a few shooting stars throughout the night and captured one or two as well!

This next image is the first frame of a star trail. I posted this image as you can see a bit of the milky way and a small shooting star in the top left corner! It really was amazing to see the Milky Way covering the entire sky! You could see it with your eye, but the camera really brought out the details! After taking this same image a couple hundred times, I combined them into a star trail!

These next three images are the same image, just the first and last image of a star trail and then several hundred images combined into the star trail!

It was the first time since Yosemite that I was able to get out and take some nighttime images and it was an absolute blast!
